Truly Blessed

May God bless everyone in our parish community! That was quite an unexpected (and emotional!) send-off blessing! We will miss you all...

Hey Balla Family,

Congratulations to Z and Julie on their triathlons! Now you've got two "personal best" times to shoot for next time.

Well, we're pretty much moved in now (12803 Matey), and you should definitely stop by and say "hi" before you all head off for China. It would be great to meet you since it looks like we've probably got a lot in common. Katy and I are both former teachers. I taught 3rd grade & Katy taught high school biology. I've done some academic writing and had a couple of articles published in a few law journals. They fit within the broader categories of democracy law and education law and policy. I haven't written anything for a couple of years and hope to get back to it in my time "off" between projects.

We've moved here to be closer to our new jobs. Katy's at the NIH in Bethesda and I'm working as a contract attorney at a big firm downtown. We're using some of the time saved from our shortened commute to get back in shape and explore the area. We hiked around Lake Needwood on Saturday. We'll be shopping for our new bikes soon so we can try out the Rock Creek Trail. I really want to get back in great shape right away. As I wheezed my way up the stopped Metro escalator I was taunted by memories of running 5-minute miles years ago in high school.

I've enjoyed reading your blog and hope you can keep it up with your adventures in China. The closest thing to a blog I've managed to make is a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=692405170).

Let us know if you need a hand with anything in the last few days before your trip (like if you're still having laundry issues). Take care.

Hi Brian. Welcome to Matey Rd! We have actually finished the first part of our trek...getting the four of us plus all of our stuff (there's a lot of it!) to Jersey. We are hanging with family and then flying out of Newark. Hold down the fort in Silver Spring!

Steve
