Beijing Huan Ying Ni

As you can see, Beijing has "officially" welcomed the Balla family to the Olympic city. Thankfully, we made it safe and sound! Right now, we are adjusting to the time difference and taking care of all kinds of details related to setting up our Chinese lives--buying cell phones, opening a bank account, signing a contract for the lease on our apartment, and just learning our way around the new neighborhood. There is so much to tell about the trip, our accommodations, and what things are like in Beijing today. Stay tuned...

BOOGANS!

So glad to see you arrived in China finally...let the adventures begin! What a great time to go, right in the middle of the Olympics. How exciting! Can't wait to hear all about your experiences.

Hey Celia! Sorry it took me so long to respond. We are having the best time here and we did go to the Olympic Green yesterday! We couldn't get into the games and didn't see any athletes but we had a great time being sucked up in the Chinese crowds.I will let you know how school goes on the 28th! Love, Julie

Nothing says, "Welcome to Beijing," like being approached by creepy mascots. ;)

They are a bit disconcerting, those mascots!
