An Andrew Zimmern Moment?

So here's a food I tried for the first time the other day. A couple of clues:

It is part of an animal.

It is not an animal part that is typically eaten around here.

It is kinda chewy, like say you were eating spaghetti
al dente.

It is served on the spicy side.
(Right, Z?)

I will probably consider it somewhat tame when you talk to me this time next year.

What is it? It is sliced pig ear, in all of its skin and cartilage goodness...

I'm Thinking I may have finally found a sure fire way to lose weight. If this is what is customary in China, I should go there for a few months. Lol

It may be good in that regard, but then you'll develop asthma from breathing in all that polluted air! And you won't be able to hear anymore with all the incessant honking that goes on!

That's my plan, Donna! I couldn't even look at Steve while he ate it. I put the tea pot, sugar bowl and salt and pepper shakers in front of the plate. I'm sure it's actually not so bad but as a meat and potatoes girl, this just wasn't for me.

I have an idea for you. MRE Meals ready to eat. Maybe you can find a army surplus. There actually not half bad. We use to love when dad would come home from camp with a couple left over. We wouldn't eat the meats but we loved the fruit and crackers. I'm thinking anything is better than sliced pig ears. But then again my grandma use to make tripe (lining of cow's stomache) with chick peas. ( I wouldn't eat that either.
